About Long Term Support - Chronic Health Conditions (LTS-CHC)

Care for people with Long Term Support-Chronic Health Conditions (LTS-CHC) who are under 65 years old, is funded by either:

  • a DHB
  • the Ministry of Health’s Disability Support Service (DSS).

National Resolution Panel

The National Resolution Panel was set up in 2013 to consider and make decisions on complex applications, where it is unclear how a client’s needs should be funded. The Panel is independent of the DHBs and the Ministry of Health.

TAS provides secretariat and administrative services for the Panel. The Panel also:

  • uses case studies to establish national policy, precedents and guidelines for future funding decisions
  • notifies the relevant Ministry-contracted Needs Assessment and Service Coordinator (NASC) and DSS of new approvals.
