Data Analyst / Senior Data Analyst

TAS is looking for an Analyst or Senior Analyst with strong technical skills to work in our Insights & Analytics group – building great customer relationships, exploring the latest methodologies and providing excellent data analysis for colleagues across the health sector.

This role is within the Analytical Insights Consultancy and is likely to have an initial focus on two programmes: shaping regional clinical delivery (stroke, dementia, cancer and trauma) and understanding the lives of older New Zealanders through the interRAI dataset.

In any of the programmes we support, a typical week in this team might include:

  • presenting insights to specialists and health sector leaders
  • working with clinicians to agree and improve key indicators in national datasets
  • helping researchers access data about service quality and patient outcomes
  • exploring new ideas to solve a health service’s operational or financial challenge.

Analysts in this team are expected to apply a consultancy mindset – advising internal and external colleagues on high-quality and innovative solutions that deliver good value and to have the technical skills needed to design and deliver those solutions.

When our group steps back from the day-to-day, we also think about the future - increased automation, interactive visual reporting and applying systems thinking to the health system. We want to do more in these arenas and we’d love your help to explore and expand.

To be successful in the role, you must have:

  • Strong data analysis and problem-solving skills
  • Confidence working with data and creating reports, using tools like Power BI and Excel
  • Experience communicating technical information to a non-technical audience, including being able to summarise complex concepts in short and simple language
  • The ability to build good relationships with a range of stakeholders
  • The ability to break down complex information problems to identify underlying structures, relationships, and opportunities
  • The ability to work both autonomously and collaboratively, in a team environment.

Senior Analysts must also have:

  • A minimum of four years' experience undertaking the relevant analytical activity and being held accountable for the quality and impact of the work
  • The ability to train, coach and mentor other analysts
  • The ability to advise and influence colleagues, especially at the senior level.

Senior Business Analyst

Regional Digital Health Services is a key business group within TAS that supports a range of regional applications and underlying infrastructure deployed for the six Central Region District Health Boards (DHBs).

We are looking for a Senior Business Analyst (BA) to join the Regional Digital Health Services (RDHS) team.

As the Senior BA, you play a key role to work closely with the organisation to understand our business functions and support IT aspects. You will also identify opportunities to share and rationalise our IT approaches from programmatic to enterprise supported and enabled. Likewise, the role functions as interface between project/ programme, people and the wider TAS. It works with relevant People Leaders to guide requirements and provide high quality analysis, investigation and research for designated piece of work and or project initiatives. 

To be successful in this role, you must have:

  • A relevant tertiary qualification(s) e.g. bachelor's degree in business, management, accounting, economics, statistics, information science is desirable (or equivalent experience)
  • Five+ years’ experience in documenting requirements in large scale and complex information technologies areas.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to foster good stakeholder relationships through consultation and partnership; strong influencing skills and builds trust.
  • Strong quantitative skills and experience managing and analysing large and / or complex data sets; extracting, transforming and analysing information from health collections.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving ability, including a thorough understanding of how to interpret business needs and translate them into report and data visualisation requirements.
  • Knowledge, experience and understanding of the health sector IT systems is an advantage.

Programme Administrator Support

  • Full time, permanent, Wellington based.

The Safe Staffing Healthy Workplace Unit and Workforce teams sit in the Services Group within TAS. The Services Group is responsible for providing a range of professional services to assist DHBs with planning, collaborations, negotiation, facilitation and delivery of activities. Our Services are provided to the twenty DHBs through a nationally agreed programme of work and to the six DHBs in the Central Region through a regionally agreed programme of work.

We are looking for a Programme Administrator to join our Safe Staffing Healthy Workplaces Unit (SSHWU) and Workforce teams. The role is accountable for providing high quality coordination and support for the delivery of the SSHWU and Workforce programmes. The Programme Administrator will be responsible for maintaining appropriate and up to date documentations whilst supporting the project/ programme for website and data collections.

 To be successful in this role, you must have:

  • A relevant tertiary qualification(s) or equivalent experience
  • Previous experience working in a coordination/ support role or similar, where planning and coordination was a key component of the work
  • Experience in the maintenance of websites and an interest in the design and delivery of digital communication
  • A genuine commitment to providing quality services to all customers
  • Good interpersonal skills with the ability to relate to a wide range of people
  • Knowledge and experience in the health sector are desirable but not necessary.

We have an opportunity for you to join our highly successful and rapidly growing Audit and Assurance team. The team combines financial, IT and clincial experts to ensure a holistic audit approach covering Internal Audits, Health Provider Audits and Certification Audits. It's preferable to have current clinical experience (within the last two years), however this is not necessary.

We would love to hear from you if you have:

  • A current practicing certificate (e.g: Registered Nurse)
  • An interest in quality and audit processes (NB: Audit experience is a preferance, but not necessary)
  • MoH approval as a certification auditor (NB: A preferance, but not necessary)
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Excellent report writing skills (NB: training will be provided).
